The World’s Laziest Preacher?

Nik | June 6, 2009 | 21:06

A man standing (mooching around) at the central crossing point, at the end of London’s Oxford Street (by Marble Arch), holding up a little stick in his hand. On top of this stick was a tiny sign, a few inches big, simply reading ‘JESUS’. The man with the stick would be appalled…

Merry Christmas everyone

Nik | December 24, 2008 | 16:12

Tis the time of goodwill and bad TV…

Hope you all have a Christmas and new year and get everything you hope for! Have fun and be good :)

Maybe after new year I’ll be able to spend more time updating this. Although I tend to spend more time on Facebook and Twitter lately.

Take care!

Strawberry and Mango Jam

Nik | November 24, 2008 | 21:23

Just had an attempt at strawberry and mango jam, and although it’s still cooling it tastes pretty good.

About 300g strawberries, 200g mango, all chopped up. A squeeze of half a lemon and 500g jam sugar.

The mango pieces didn’t pulp very well so still quite chunky, which is fine as they were chopped small anyway, but I like smooth jam so next time I think I’ll run it briefly through the blender before boiling. That’ll probably add more mango flavour throughout it too.

Headlights – the fashion

Nik | November 14, 2008 | 23:16

As someone who drives around for hours a day I notice a growing trend with motorists – wonky headlights. It seems like it’s the latest fashion to drive a car around with uneven headlights. I’m guessing the rules are thus:

  • One light may be a standard dipped headlight, adjusted properly. Although preferably it will be a dim sidelight only.
  • The other light should be a standard dipped light but adjusted to point at the moon. For extra kudos this may be a main beam light.
  • Both sides must have light, neither bulb shall be blown.
  • For the finishing touch one rear taillight bulb may be blown leaving one working.

I may of course be totally wrong; it could be that some drivers are too dumb/idle to fix bulbs, that some cars require a degree in mechanics, rocket science and fingers like Freddie Krueger to access the bulbs, or that garages charge a fortune plus a few hours labour to put them right.

Has blogging died? The future…

Nik | October 19, 2008 | 19:13

You may notice I rarely post on here anymore. I’m not the only one, probably 90% of all other blogs I’ve read in the past are no longer active (lying idle or totally erased). So I’m not sure whether I should change the direction of this personal website (twistedkites.co.uk).

It seems that everything is covered by the various social networking sites. Bebo and MySpace include blogs. Flickr is great for photos. YouTube covers the videos. Facebook covers everything (that’s where I’m most active these days). Not only that but various fan sites include profiles and other community features.

Should I concentrate on the social networking side instead? Maybe I could turn this site around to group together my presence from all other sites that I am active on, and maybe just add my own various pieces on here as and when needed.

As much as I’ve enjoyed using Wordpress for running my website, I could possibly switch to something simpler. Maybe open up parts of the website for friends and family to use too?

Lots to ponder.

Serj Tankian at Carling Academy

Nik | September 1, 2008 | 3:33

This is a (poor, sorry!) video of Serj Tankian playing The Unthinkable Majority at the Carling Academy, Birmingham on 20th August 2008. For those of you who like to rock…
