A vital piece of advice: when finished charging a techy gadgety gizmo, don’t just take out the cable and flick it aside. It might land in a mug of recently finished coffee or something. Which is precisely what happened to my Macbook Magsafe charger, it started to elecroplate itself with coffee grinds I think. After drying and cleaning it still powered the laptop but wouldn’t charge it. But to be sure I stopped using it as I don’t want to risk knackering the Macbook itself.
60 quid and a trip to KRCS a few days later, I am finally able to use my laptop again. And I’ve ordered a spare charger to which should be here in the next few days (cheaper off ebay), just in case.

Don’t get a spare charger. Just be more careful in future
The spare will double as one I can take with me when I’m away from home, so works out a good plan really.
oh dear. This reminds me of many a time my remote falls into the hot water that i have down by my chair for heating the baby bottle. Lucky it happened last time the NTL guy was around and he gave me a free remote.
I’m usually very careful, my remotes are still intact, my phone has never even seen a puddle of water or a toilet bowl, etc… luckily I o have a spare Sky remote upstairs so just in case, Sky give nothing away free!
Nice that you got a: a free remote and b: a nice workman! Doubly bonus
My MacBooks off to Apple when I can be assed to part with it, needs a new case, at least it’s free, had any trouble with yours? Mine has a brown tinge to the underside and a nice crack along the exhaust vent.
No probs with mine thankfully, although it is the black one and the discolouring only affected the white I think. Had mine just over a year so fingers crossed nothing goes wrong, I think my warranty has now expired!
