You may notice I rarely post on here anymore. I’m not the only one, probably 90% of all other blogs I’ve read in the past are no longer active (lying idle or totally erased). So I’m not sure whether I should change the direction of this personal website (twistedkites.co.uk).

It seems that everything is covered by the various social networking sites. Bebo and MySpace include blogs. Flickr is great for photos. YouTube covers the videos. Facebook covers everything (that’s where I’m most active these days). Not only that but various fan sites include profiles and other community features.

Should I concentrate on the social networking side instead? Maybe I could turn this site around to group together my presence from all other sites that I am active on, and maybe just add my own various pieces on here as and when needed.

As much as I’ve enjoyed using Wordpress for running my website, I could possibly switch to something simpler. Maybe open up parts of the website for friends and family to use too?

Lots to ponder.

My titles are very poor again. Sorry.

Well first up you might spot a few small changes on the blog. Mainly a new header image which I might change every now and then. Plus the main background and text colours which compliment the header image. Also jiggled the widgets around and added a Flickr widget which has a handful of random pictures with each visit. I’m trying a new thing too, bolding (I guess that’s not actually a word…is it?) key words in my posts to give the writing a bit of depth and to assist skimming. Not sure whether it’s a good idea, don’t know without trying, eh.

Was watching MTV2 earlier today, when a song from my second favourite band, Bright Eyes, came on! Hot Knives from the Cassadaga album to be exact. That’s excellent seeing them on the tellybox. Conor truly is a musical genius. Yay and Easy/Lucky/Free is playing on iTunes as I type. Beautiful.

The new printer/scanner/whatever you want to call it is still doing great. Got my free print from Canon through today (as previously mentioned). OK so it’s not a true print, well it is but it has printer info in one corner, and ’sample’ text in another, so I can’t frame it (it was the picture used in the current header to this blog). But no problem, as it’s intended to be a tester, and I can soon print one out of my own. After all it should come out exactly the same. Although I can’t do much with the print, it did actually come with a voucher that I can send off to get 2 free packs of Canon A4 photo paper (20 sheets each) which I need to send with my printer receipt (offer for purchasers). Nice stuff. Canon seem to know what they’re doing! HP crash computers instead (BSoD on XP sometimes!). As for Lexmark, well I’m not even going to go there.

Is it wrong to make up some chocolate flavoured buttercream and just eat it straight out of the bowl? Do I care if it is? Food is food… I need cake but don’t have the ingredients at hand to make one. Never mind! Aren’t random cravings weird.

And a bit late I know, but my Moo cards arrived last week! Lovely little things. Looky:

They can be obtained through Moo, Flickr, Vox and a few other places, each is slightly different. have a look around the Moo site if you’re interested.

Jeez the sun is coming up. Maybe it’s time I went to bed. Although probably for the best as I have a 1.30 am shift start on Friday morning. And my MOT is at midday Thursday. Just had to pay £180 for car tax so hope the MOT goes OK.

Spent hours working on flickr today (as you can probably guess from that test post below). Mostly sorting out tags and titles (many still to do yet) and putting most of my pics on my flickr map. My pics have mostly been sitting on Flickr idle for months as I’d not got around to labelling them.

Had a handful of my pics made into mini MooCards, which are small sized contact card type thing, like an informal business card I suppose. They should arrive in the next few days, if they are good I might make some specifically for swapping! If anybody else uses Moo mini cards and wants to trade, keep watching here. I might offer 100 different ones (maybe) then put them all and any swaps onto an online gallery with links to swappers flickr galleries, something like that anyway.

Sorry not added much lately, quite a bit I’ve wanted to write but just haven’t felt like it much recently.

A friend of mine wants to set me up with a friend of his fiancee. Not sure about the whole set-up blind-date type thing but can do no harm I guess! It’s very rare that I meet nice single girls so any opportunity is good.

Back on a late shift tonight. Every shift I had since returning from holiday has been hectic. Monday the M42 was shut backing up to Coventry. Tuesday a coach I switched a load of people onto gained a burst radiator, luckily still at the services so had to put them all back on the original, plus the M6 was closed at Birmingham but luckily I managed to get onto the Toll road mere metres before the back of the queue was starting. Wednesday I was informed that my coach had broken down in Manchester so had to wait for it, not only that but the M6 was shut at Stafford so it had to divert. Thursday it was on time but a big traffic jam on the M1 at 10pm, normally empty by that time.

Yesterday I was off, and tonight the M1 is shut for bridge-smashing so hopefully the M40 will be flawless.

Also my Ireland pics are now on my Flickr page, along with a load of my other photos.
