Posts Tagged “Mac”

I know I’ve not been posting much lately. (But then again not many do, my RSS feed blog updates hardly differ these days!)

I’ll try to try harder. Maybe if I can find a Mac OS widget or something for Wordpress it might help.

I’m sitting at Preston depot (got 4 hours here in the middle of the night), plugged the Macbook into the WWW with my 3 dongle, sorting my blog, listening to the iPod. I’ll have to use these lulls to blog more often if I’m struggling.

Anyway work has been busier than usual, my relationship is going beautifully (we’re both going to Ireland for a 5-night break next week, can’t wait), car is running well.

Also recovering from a cold, quite annoying but not tragic.

Regular readers (if there are any left that haven’t disappeared into the void themselves), keep on at me to keep updating. How is everyone doing?

Having a night in tonight; 1, I need to get to sleep at a decent hour as I’m off camping tomorrow leaving about 8am (on the Brum M6 at rush hour, ho hum lol) and 2, N needs to get an early night as she’s up at 3am so we can’t go out tonight, had another nice night out last night though :)

Yep off camping tomorrow until Saturday at Llyn Gwynant Campsite in Snowdonia. Inside a valley right next to a lake at the foot of Snowdon, 2 miles from civilisation (well a little village, also 5 miles from Beddgelert), went there a few years ago and it’s truly stunning. Hope it’s not full! Well with the latest weather forecast we may well have the site to ourselves… The car is pretty much loaded, just need to chuck my personal stuff and my Ikea bag full of food (big and strong, perfect for it) onto the back seat in the morning (cos the boot is almost full).

No I’m not taking my Macbook and the phone signal will be non existent on site so no blog entries til the weekend.

Take care everyone.

Brief updates…

* My Moo cards arrived today. Lovely little things. 100 little cards in a handy white tub. So now I’ll start planning my next batch!

* Car sailed through the MOT, I like it when that happens. One less expense! Until next year when no doubt something will need doing.

* Might be meeting up with a pal on Sunday, possibly for a meal in Wetherspoons. Not seen him in ages. It might be him, his missus, and her friend.

* Early shift tomorrow. 1.35am. Always tricky getting my body clock prepared for that one! Had a very late night last night (up until 4.45am) so just a few hours later should be about right. Three of those shifts in a row so the others should be easier, they usually are.

* Needed to print a few things off today. Sounds easy. But according to HP’s website there will now be no driver released for my printer and Vista. According to their workaround there is another driver I can use, but following their instructions that one is not listed. Useless. Tried printing through my mac, worked with a few but printer doesn’t always respond.

Eventually had to put the picture onto a memory card and insert that into the printer. The one big sheet I had to do, which is an iron-on transfer, well the test went fine, first proper run jamed, next test was fine then second proper run started off well (last sheet I have of special paper) then the last half inch decided to come out bad.

Luckily I filled my sheet with duplicate images (it’s work things for my hi-viz) so I can iron on most, apart from the full width logo which will have to wait. Very annoying HP crap.

Now I have to buy a new printer and I think my next one will NOT be an HP.

and I can’t think of a better title, sorry!

It occurred to me recently that I would struggle to charge my iPod when away. It would be awkward to rely on the Macbook to do it (if it worked, the iPod is Windows formatted so data won’t work with Mac, but charging might do, and no I’m not faffing about reformatting it). I know Apple do a USB to mains adaptor for twenty quid which I considered (I guess there are cheaper nasty ones available!) but decided on spending an extra tenner on a Logic3 i-Station 3, which is a dock with basic-but-decent speakers and is also good for charging. It does data transfer too but I’ll probably not need to use it for that.

Also ordered a sleeve for the Macbook too, something I’ve needed for a while but not got round to getting. But I don’t want it getting scratched in my flight bag or rucksack. My work bag is fine as it has a perfectly sized compartment, that’s probably why I waited. So that’s 2 things sorted.

Just enjoyed a relaxing 3 days off work, back in on a late one this evening (later than usual as the schools are off so don’t need to do Guilsborough). Hope the weekend is good, quiet and not rainy will be very welcome. Been fairly pleasant so far today, although we had a cracking storm last night. Apparently a man in Coventry was hit by lightning, but luckily he lived (his shoe disintegrated and clothes went black). Walking through a grassy area I think, not so wise.

And finally… I’ve been importing these entries into Facebook, now they don’t seem to be working! Any ideas? My RSS feed is fine.

Take care.

Imported 45 minutes of video into iMovie as I need to edit it and want something different to Windows Movie maker.

“iMovie is great”,”Macs never crash” etc etc.

Well I only wanted to add a subtitle and it crashed dumping everything I imported into iMovie’s Trash (not the Mac Trash).

I could keep on hunting to try and find a way to recover it or I could just import it into Windows where it saves a hard copy to my hard drive and I know how to edit flawlessly.

If anyone knows a way around this for next time, please share! (And don’t just say “keep saving”…)
